If anyone else is interested in writing short stories and possibly getting them published, I suggest you check out Secret Attic. They host a plethora of contests for short stories of many different word lengths. Some have prompts and word limits, others have specific word counts, etc.
If you’ll allow me to toot my own horn, I did get a flash fiction published in Issue #3. It’s here for free, too. I wouldn’t do that to you! Check it out here.
